Relflex™ conducts seminar on 'Emerging Synthetic Rubber Landscape' at Ludhiana.

Ludhiana, November 12, 2014: Relflex™ Elastomers – Synthetic Rubber Business of Reliance Industries Limited (RIL) conducted a seminar at Ludhiana on the changing trends in the synthetic rubber industry under the theme ‘Emerging Synthetic Rubber Landscape’. The seminar saw the launch of Relflex™ Stylamer SBR (Styrene Butadiene Rubber) a new addition to Reliance’s Relflex™ Elastomer product portfolio.

The seminar was organized at Hotel Radisson Blu in Ludhiana on Nov,12, 2014 and attracted a large number of key stakeholders representing cycle tyre as well as non-tyre industries situated in and around Punjab, Haryana and Himachal Pradesh. The seminar covered a detailed presentation on Reliance, Relflex™ product portfolio (present and future), insights about the newly inaugurated Relflex™ Elastomer Customer Support Centre (ECSC) and projects carried out by ECSC pertaining to cycle tyre and non tyre industries. This symposium also offered stakeholders an opportunity to discuss and exchange views, experiences & insights on the elastomers portfolio offered by Reliance.

Reliance, in its relentless endeavor to serve the customers has expanded its Relflex ™ portfolio both in terms of the range as well as the capacity. 150 KTA of Relflex ™ Stylamer SBR plant was commissioned at Hazira in September 2014. This plant is capable of producing both oil extended and non-oil grade SBR and supplies have already commenced to customer located across the country.

Currently, Reliance is producing 80 KTA of Poly Butadiene Rubber (PBR) in Vadodara, Gujarat. Earlier in the year, it successfully commissioned an additional 40 KTA PBR plant at Hazira. With this new capacity, Reliance now has the unique capability to produce three different catalysts based PBR’s i.e. Nickel, Cobalt and Neodymium, to cater to the varied needs of its downstream industry. Reliance also has a JV with SIBUR of Russia for making world-class Butyl rubber in India. A plant under this JV is already under execution at Jamnagar and would have a capacity to produce 100 KTA of Butyl Rubber. It is expected to start by Q1 2016.

Seminar also saw representative from Rubber Expo 2015 (IRE 2015) speaking about upcoming IRE event at Delhi in January 2015. RelflexTM, being the country’s largest manufacturer of synthetic rubber, is also the main sponsor of IRE 2015.
