The primary raw material for the processing for PBR and SBR is Butadiene. The two PBR plants in Vadodara and the new PBR and SBR plant in Hazira, receive Butadiene from their on-site, integrated Naphtha crackers. In the case of cracker shut-down, both planned and unplanned, Butadiene is obtained from RIL’s alternate manufacturing sites.
Styrene which is used in the production of SBR is imported from leading petrochemical companies across the world. Our suppliers continue to maintain and deliver the highest quality of Styrene while we at RIL ensure the quality of our SBR is up to the highest global standards.
In order to manufacture IIR and Halobutyl Rubber (HIIR), a key ingredient required is High Purity Iso-Butylene (HPIB). This HPIB will be obtained from our Jamnagar refinery that currently processes 62 million metric tonnes of oil per year.
The integration of our world-class refinery, coupled with two fully integrated petrochemical establishments at Vadodara and Hazira will safeguard an uninterrupted supply of elastomers from RIL and in turn a secure supply of product to our customers
